Abstract:Toe flexor strength (TFS) has been shown to be associated with the size of toe flexor muscles. However, it is unclear how the relationship between muscle size and TFS varies depending on the toe(s) intended for force production. We hypothesized that the TFS produced by all toes (TFS-All), the great toe (TFS-Great), and lesser toes (TFS-Lesser) would be specifically associated with the size of the muscles specialized in each toe flexion. The maximal anatomical cross-sectional area (ACSAmax) of each toe flexor m… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
