“…Subsequent Europe‐Arabian plate collision flexed the overridden carbonate platform, which resulted in the formation of the Oman Mountains as we see them today (Loosveld et al, ). Structures related to late obduction or postobduction structures with dominant top‐to‐NNE movements and normal faulting are described for all three tectonic windows (Csontos et al, ; Fournier et al, ; Miller et al, ; Searle & Alsop, ). Related to their different positions with respect to the subduction zone, each window offers insights on different structural imprints on the overall tectonic history on the orogen: whereas the Saih Hatat window exposes high‐pressure metamorphic rocks, rocks in Jebel Akhdar are low grade metamorphic and include the less deformed passive margin sequence.…”
