“…The amino acid sequence comparison showed that the carp CL chains can be classified as the channel catfish G or rainbow trout IgL1 isotype. Recently, it has been shown that Atlantic salmon has two isotypes of IgH chain (Hordvik et al, 1992(Hordvik et al, , 1997, and that the common carp has duplicated CH genes which are more divergent than those of Atlantic salmon (Nakao et al, 1998). In this study, although only one isotype of IgL chain could be identified, it is possible that another isotype is present as in other teleosts.…”

“…The presence of two distinct isotypes of CH gene has also been described for Atlantic salmon (Hordvik et al, 1992). Recently, other genomic analyses have o#ered additional support for the hypothesis that the Ig H loci including V, D, and J segments of VH and CH duplicated as a whole, probably during tetraploidisation of the salmonid ancestor, and each duplicated locus seems to be disomicly inherited in the existent salmonids (Hordvik et al, 1997). By contrast, diploid fish species, such as channel catfish (Gha#ari & Lobb, 1989), ladyfish (Amemiya & Litman, 1990), and Atlantic cod (Bengtén et al, 1991), have been found to carry a single CH gene.…”

“…Serum IgM and the genes that encode the IgM and IgD heavy chains in Atlantic salmon have been described (Håvarstein et al, 1988;Hordvik et al, 1992Hordvik et al, , 1997Hordvik et al, , 1999. The aim of the present study was to detect IgM-like antibodies in cutaneous and gut mucus of Atlantic salmon.…”
