Structure and Piezoelectricity of Poly (styrene-co-acrylonitrile) Copolymer Doped with Different Dyes

Abstract: The influence of the organic ionic salt crystal 4-N,Ndimethylamino-4-N-methyl-stilbazolium tosylate (DAST) and 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)-4 0 -nitrostilbene (DANS) dyes on structure, and piezoelectricity of Poly (styrene-co-acrylonitrile) (SAN) copolymer has been studied by several techniques. X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy reveal crystalline phase in the doped copolymer and the degree of crystallinity increases either by increasing dye's concentration or by applying stress to the films. Fourier Transform… Show more

“…There is currently a need for a material that can serve as skin that is similar to human skin, because it is important that we feel affinity with robots. Therefore, when the piezoelement is made of a polymer [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ], the polymer selected should be rubber, and not be vulnerable to impulsive or large forces. This is why it is necessity to use some form of rubber to create robot skins.…”
