Structure, Characterization and ab Initio Calculations of [Mn(4,4´-bipy)2(H2O)4][HOOCC6H4SSC6H4COO]2

Abstract: The complex [Cu(en) 2 (H 2 O)](sy) 2 (en)(H 2 O) 2 has been synthesized and characterized by its electronic and vibrational spectra. The molecular structure of the complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The complex crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma with unit-cell parameters a = 10.7236 (5), b = 20.4660(10), c = 14.4523(11)Å and Z = 4. In the cation, the Cu(II) ion has a distorted square pyramidal coordination with two bidendate (en) ligands forming the basal plane and a H 2 O… Show more

“…2,2 0 -Dithiodibenzoic acid (H 2 DTBB), possessing two carboxyl groups, has often been employed in coordination complexes (Wang et al, 2007(Wang et al, , 2008Murugavel et al, 2001). However, due to its poor solubility in water, molecular adducts based on H 2 DTBB have been reported for only a few cases to date (Meng et al, 2008;Li et al, 2001;Cai et al, 2006;Kang et al, 2002;Hu et al, 2004).…”

“…On the other hand, 4,4 -bipyridine or a combination with other ligands can be used for the construction of intriguing supramolecular motifs using covalent coordination and hydrogen bonds to give one-dimensional structures and higher-dimensional coordination polymers. [5,6] In addition, supramolecular and other labile interactions can be used to control the way in which molecules are arranged in crystal lattices in order to pack network materials with infinite 1D, 2D, or 3D structural motifs. The major approaches to such materials that have emerged thus far include the use of hydrogen bonding interactions between organic molecules.…”
