Secondary structure and 3D homology modeling of swine leukocyte antigen class 2 (SLA-2) molecules

“…The a-helix and b-sheet contents were similar to those of HLA-A2 (Saper et al, 1991), the reported BF2 (Yan et al, 2006) and grass carp MHC class I (Hao et al, 2007), with identical ratios of a-helices, which were 94.7%, 94.7%, and 96.2%, respectively. The contents of the b-sheet and turn plus random coil were similar to those of the human b 2 m (Saper et al, 1991), the reported chicken b 2 m (Yan et al, 2006) and grass carp b 2 m (Hao et al, 2007), with identical ratios of 95.7%, 91.1%, and 97.8%, respectively. The results indicated the SLA class I molecule may have similar secondary structure to those of human, chicken, and grass carp.…”

Presently, Yan and Hao have demonstrated the conformational structures of chicken and grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) MHC class I and b 2 m proteins, respectively (Yan et al, 2006;Hao et al, 2007). Compared to those for human, rat, chicken and grass carp, studies of MHC class I in swine are still limited to the sequences and their functions while no information is available on structure of swine MHC I molecules.…”
