STRUKTUR GENETIK Calliandra calothyrsus DI INDONESIA MENGGUNAKAN PENANDA RANDOM AMPLIFIED POLYMORPHISM DNA (RAPD)

Abstract: Calliandra calothyrsus was introduced to Indonesia from Guatemala in 1930s and had been planted widely throughout Indonesia for fuel wood. Genetic diversity within and among population is an important factor for initiating breeding program. Aim in this study was to evaluate genetic structure of C. calothyrsus in Indonesia, to obtain a better understanding of the history of the distribution and efficiency of breeding strategy of this species. Leaf samples were collected in a seedling seed orchard plot from 10 p… Show more

“…The population of calliandra in Indonesia is estimated to only come from 2 areas of origin, which causes low genetic diversity between and within populations [7]. These results are also in line with other types such as Neolamarckia sp.…”

“…High genetic gain achieved here, most likely is generated by variations among Calliandra populations collected from throughout Indonesia which was revealed in the progeny test (Nurtjahjaningsih, Sulistyawati & Rimbawanto, 2016). This variation which caused high heritability values (Hendrati, 2015a) might be influenced by different growth habitat on its original population including elevation (Hendrati, 2013).…”

“…Take note that, Calliandra was introduced to Indonesia in 1930 (Nurtjahjaningsih et al, 2016), since then, this species found scattered all around Indonesia might have been able to produce more than 20 generations at particular locations. Due to the ability to adapt to the local condition, these populations might form land races with different genetic structures.…”
