Student Perceived Difficulties in Learning Organ Systems in an Undergraduate Human Anatomy Course

Abstract: Learning human anatomy may be a difficult task for students for a variety of reasons including the quantity of material in the course or discipline-specific factors such as understanding anatomical terminology or learning complex physiological processes. Additionally, students may find certain organ systems more challenging than others. While prior studies have assessed student perceptions of learning specific organ systems in a variety of settings, it is unknown what organ systems students in an undergraduate… Show more

“…In addition, the students must also learn all process occurred in the Organ System. These complicated materials become the primary reason why this material was difficult to be studied by the students (Lieu et al, 2018). This finding is consistent with what has found by Alfiraida (2018) in her study which concluded that the difficulty of Coordination and Immune System was caused by the complicated characteristics of the topic.…”

“…Undergraduate anatomy and physiology courses serve as a prerequisite for many health science programs ( 12 , 13 ). While students are inundated with human physiological theory in lectures, they enroll in the laboratory, which proves to be equally overwhelming ( 14 ). For instance, students learn the physiology of the skeletal system and muscular system in lectures.…”
