Student worksheet usage effectiveness based on realistics mathematics educations toward mathematical communication ability of junior high school student

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of student worksheet (LKPD) based on realistic mathematics educations (RME) of class VIII of Junior High School. This is a development research with Plomp Model. The research design employs quasi experiments with Only-Posttest Control Group Design. This research took place in Public Junior High School (SMPN) Padang of class VIII. The sample is determined by purposive sampling. The treatment toward experiment group is learning by using LKPD based on R… Show more

“…Furthermore, the results of working on Tkkm number 3 from MNT-S are presented in figure 12. Based on the presentation of the interview above and the test answer in figure 12, it can be seen that MNT-S a little difficulty understanding how to calculate the AC side can be seen from the results of written answers and verbally during the interview and from the written tests MNT-S can writing answers in detailed, as in the research which state that student can solve the problem this section with proofs that students can modelling this problem correctly (Ismail et al, 2020). This shows that MNT-S able to explain and identify what is known in the problem with the own sentences even though it is not yet correct.…”

“…On the other hand, Ismail, Arnawa, & Yerizon (2020) states that the characteristics of an effective worksheet to improve students' mathematical communication skills are through a realistic mathematics education approach. This is because realistic mathematics education encourages (1) the use of real contexts (the teacher presents contextual problems and asks students to understand the problems given), (2) the use of mathematical models (students model using visual aids to solve problems), (3) construction knowledge by students so that students are motivated to express their opinions through interactions between teachers and students, and between students with one another, and the integration of mathematics material with other scientific fields (Pratiwi & Waziana, 2018).…”

“…A student worksheet is a media that can be used in the learning process and can support the learning process; it is a learning tool that can be used in exploring the learning process to make students active [23]. There are several benefits of student worksheets, including 1) making students actively participate in the learning process; 2) assisting students in finding concepts; 3) training students in discovering and cultivating process skills; 4) being used as a guide for teachers and students to carry out the learning process; 5) accompanying students to record the material being studied; 6) helping students improve information about the concepts learned through learning activities [24].…”
