Effective communication within the hospital environment can significantly improve practice safety in health services, especially during the handover process. Handover is a transfer of information during the shift transition. Numerous studies have presented evidence of the Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (SBAR) format in enhancing effective communication during handovers. Here, we aimed to explore SBAR communication during handovers in a public hospital in Bali. This quantitative descriptive study applied a cross-sectional approach and employed 20 participants who were selected using a total sampling technique. A questionnaire was enrolled to collect participants’ demography characteristics and the handover process. The majority of participants were female (90%), with a mean age of 28 years, a working duration <3 years (55%), and registered nurses (45%). SBAR format was effectively delivered during the handovers (95%), especially among female participants (85%), aged 29 years old (20%), participants with less than <3 years of working experience (55%), and registered nurses (40%). SBAR format assists a clear, complete, well-directed, and concise organization of clinical information during the handover process. According to the model care, we only found one team member (5%) with ineffective SBAR communication. Ninety-five percent of the participants had performed proper SBAR handovers. We assumed that model of care may associate with SBAR handovers skill.

The use of good communication techniques during weigh-ins is important in improving patient safety. SBAR communication is a communication technique recommended by JCI to be used in the implementation of weigh-ins to improve patient safety in hospitals. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between SBAR communication and the implementation of nurse weighing in the Inpatient Room of Dr. M.M Dunda Hospital. This research method is quantitative research with a descriptive research design using a cross-sectional design. Data collection was carried out using questionnaire sheets with a population of 35 respondents. The number of respondents was taken using purposive sampling techniques. The data obtained were processed statistically using the Fisher's Exact Test. The results showed that there was a relationship between SBAR communication and the implementation of weigh-in in the Inpatient Room of Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Hospital with a p-value result of 0.000. In conclusion, there is a relationship between SBAR communication and the implementation of nurse weighing in the Inpatient Room of Dr. M.M Dunda Limboto Hospital (p-value < 0.05). Advice for nurses is expected that nurses always use complete SBAR communication in the implementation of weigh-ins at every shift change.

Nurse Satisfaction After Overaning the Patient's Side with SBAR Communication. Hospital service quality must be improved, one aspect is patient safety, its efforts are through increased effective communication. One of the indicators is communicates using the SBAR method. The handover between shift at the hospital has not carried out handover at the patient's side by using the SBAR method and has not been oriented to the patient's condition. Therefore nurses have not focused on the development of the condition of the patients and did not provide nurse satisfaction their nursing care performed. The study aimed to compare nurse satisfaction before and after bedside handover intervention with the SBAR method in the inpatient room. This research is quantitative with a cross-sectional design, the sample of all nurses in the inpatient room is 80 people. The results obtained before the intervention, the highest satisfaction is the need for self-actualization and after the highest satisfaction the need to have. The lowest satisfaction needs before and after the intervention are physiological needs. There is a significant difference between the satisfaction of respondents before and after the intervention. Bedside handover between shift is very useful and gives satisfaction to the nurses, must be carrying out nursing with guidance and supervision and giving rewards to the nurse who practices that when care the patients.
