Studies on novel composites of polyoxymethylene/ polyamide 6

Abstract: A series of new composite of polyoxymethylene/polyamide 6 (POM/PA 6) were synthesized by using -caprolactam as a reactive solvent with POM soluble in it. Incorporating a small content of POM (1-4 wt %) into PA 6 led to a great improvement of impact resistance POM/PA 6. The effects of POM content on the mechanical, morphological, and thermal properties of the composites were investigated. Incorporating minor POM (1 wt %), disposed in finely dispersed level (about 1 m), into PA 6 matrix can greatly reduce the cr… Show more

“…The results indicate that, although pre-PGS is almost amorphous at room temperature (RT), it will assume different state at low temperature below RT. If such kind of state can be fixed, the material with different mechanical properties can be obtained [22,23].…”

“…Given their inherent properties, the combination of PPO with PA66 is expected to reduce their defects. [1][2][3][4][5] Unfortunately, PA66 and PPO are immiscible polymers due to the large polarity differences and high interfacial tension. Simply melting PPO compounded with PA66 lead to poor mechanical properties since the bad interfacial adhesion and relatively low toughness of both phases.…”

“…Various processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and rolling mill, have been successfully developed for processing POM. However, due to poor solubility of POM in common solvents, researches on electrospinning are rarely reported, and the progress of relevant scientific research is slow [7][8][9][10]. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are a family of cyclic oligosaccharide with cyclic molecular structure, and they are composed of α (1,4) linked cyclic pyridoglycan units.…”
