Ödemiş is one of the most important nursery tree and ornamental production centre of Turkey. This study was conducted in Ödemiş District of İzmir Province in stone and pome fruit production areas from 2008 to 2011. In this study, determination of plant parasitic nematode species and nematode-infested areas was aimed. For this purpose, a total of 368 soil samples were taken from different 16 fruits in stone and pome fruit production areas including apple, peach, apricot, cherry, pear, plum, quince, walnut, persimmon, almond, pomegranate, olive, oleaster and citrus in Ödemiş District. Nematodes were isolated from these soil samples by using proper methods and their identification were done based on morphological characters. In the study, plant parasitic nematode species were identified as; Pratylenchus thornei (Sher & Allen), P. penetrans (Cobb), Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid & White), M. javanica (Treub), Xiphinema sp. (Cobb), Helicotylenchus sp., Rotylenchulus sp. and Tylenchulus sp. The most common species were determined as Helicotylenchus spp. Pratylenchus spp. and Meloidogyne spp. respectively.
