Study of corrosion inhibition for mild steel in NaCl solution by propolis extract

Abstract: This paper studies the corrosion inhibition of X52 5L carbon steel in 0.51 mol dm-3 sodium chloride solution in the presence of propolis extract. The inhibition efficiency of propolis extract in a chloride solution was tested by its adding to the working solution and by making a solid propolis coating on the electrode surface. The possibility of corrosion inhibition in the presence of propolis in flow conditions as well as at different temperatures was investigated by electrochemical methods: potentiodynamic p… Show more

“…Contamination of ecosystems and aquatic sources is becoming more prevalent. Discharge of waste containing heavy metals, biological species, and pharmaceutical residues causes contaminations [1][2][3]. The situation aggravates in industrially heavy areas and agricultural fields [1,[3][4][5][6][7][8].…”

“…The dissolution of iron due to the presence of the sodium chloride is considered as one of the main reasons for the occurrence of corrosion of these materials. In order to reduce the corrosion rate, inhibition and protection of the metal will result in the following development of methods and materials [5][6][7][8][9].…”
