Study of Seven-Lump Kinetic Model in the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit

Abstract: Problem statement:The effective simulation of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) operation requires a good understanding of many factors such as, reaction kinetic, fluid dynamics and feed and catalyst effects. Approach: In this model the reactor has been considered as an isothermal riser. The reactions in the riser occur with the fluid and the solids in ideal plug flow. Because of complication of the catalytic cracking mechanism and existence of multi-components in the feed, to decrease the calculation content… Show more

“…For instance, the six-lump model of Souza et al, (2011) is different from the six-lump model of Mu et al (2005). The increase in number of lumps continued to the 5-lump model (Dupain et al, 2003, Jorge Ancheyta Juarez, 1999; the 6-Lump model (Takatsuka et al, 1987, Du et al, 2014, Xiong et al, 2015, Zhang et al, 2017; 7-lump model (Heydari et al, 2010; 8-lump model (Gao et al, 2014, Hagelberg et al, 2002; 9-lump model (You, 2013, You et al, 2006; 10-lump model (Jacob et al, 1976); 11 lump model (Mao et al, 1985, Sa et al, 1985 and so on. In this work, new kinetic parameters are developed for a new six-lump model.…”

“…The new control system based on modeling of variables was developed to control the FCC unit, as they are complex and cannot be controlled by traditional control systems (Jia et al, 2003). The addition of catalyst combined with the equilibrium nature of the circulating catalyst in FCC is critical for refining processes in terms of real-time optimization (Elamurugan and Dinesh Kumar, 2010;Heydari et al, 2010).…”

“…The study of reaction kinetics involving catalytic cracking process is done based on lumping strategy in which similar components are grouped into a few "cuts" [18]. The more lumps a model includes, the more kinetic parameters need to be estimated, and consequently, the more experimental data are required [19].…”
