Study of the Press Fit Bearing‐Shaft Joint Dimensional Parameters by Analytical and Numerical Approach

Abstract: The study of press fit bearing-shaft joint dimensional parameters by means of analytical and numerical calculations in order to identify those parameters of the press fit joints which significantly influence the life of the bearings fitted by pressing is dealt in this paper. The mounting and conditions of fit joint are the significant factors affecting the operability and life of the bearings and consequently that of rotating machines and the whole technical units. The aim of the analysis and study is to deter… Show more

“…In this method, the pin is forced into correct position in the joint, reaching the interference fit with the contacting surfaces. This solution has negative/zero installation tolerance and zero operational tolerance, and the performance of this method has been studied both numerically, analytically, and experimentally over the years [9,10].…”

“…Moreover, the surface irregularity resulting from for example the guideway errors, errors of rotary elements, by thermal expansion of elements or by fixing the workpiece [5,6]. The bearing inner race is thin-walled and thus after pressing the inner race on the shaft, the dimension after pressing and the final clearances are achieved by shaft tolerance size and accuracy of shaft geometry up to 90% [7]. After mounting, the bearing working clearance is smaller and the shape of the shaft surface is "copied" on the shape of the inner bearing race.…”

“…From the space between the seals, a certain amount of buffer liquid enters the sealed casing of the rotary machine (through the internal seal) and into the atmosphere (through the external seal). Such a scheme not only promotes lubrication, flushing and cooling of the seal, but also allows you to completely eliminate leakage of the sealed product into the area behind the seal [3,4]. Double sealing systems, in which both seals are mechanical, are recognized as the most effective among the existing ones.…”
