Study on cracks and process improvement for case hardened gear shaft straightening

Abstract: Gear shaft is one of the key components for transmitting torque and speed in automotive transmission. Deflections will inevitably occur after heat treatment. It is necessary to ensure the straightness of the parts by straightening. During straightening process, cracks often appear and result in scrapped parts. This paper focuses on the situation of high straightening crack rate of internal input shaft in one dual-clutch automotive transmission, makes an in-depth analyses the pressure straightening process theo… Show more

“…In multifactorial experimental studies, a main effect is the examination of the effect of change in one independent variable on the dependent variable alone. The interaction effect is a reflection of the interdependence and mutual constraints of two or more independent variables that jointly influence the changes in the dependent variable [10]. Based on the experimental test data of the joint pullout force in table 3, a main effect analysis was performed using the experimental data to obtain the main effect trend diagram of the pullout force of the through-hole cartridge solder joint as shown in figure 3.…”

“…Such processes can be used to straighten hardened shafts, and the straightening process is carried out manually or automatically by a straightening machine. The straightening mechanism uses strikes, which create plastic deformations that expand the material locally, leading to the straightening of the shafts themselves [24,25].…”
