Study on natural convection heat transfer in a closed cavity with hot and cold tubes

Abstract: Laminar natural convection with a pair of hot and cold tube in a closed cubic cavity is carried out. This configuration can be founded in performance of nuclear power plant containment passive residual heat removal system. The basic government aquations are sloved by means of finite volume method. The effect of Ra number (103–106), shape of tube and spatial position on local and mean heat transfer characteristics is studied. It is found that the Nu number increased when raising Ra number. The Nu number is high… Show more

“…Furthermore, Figure 11 demonstrates that the triangular barrier provides improved heat-transfer efficiency by presenting the highest peak of Nuavg values when compared to the other cylinders. The geometrical features of the triangle and the uniform space provided around it make it easier for the hybrid nano-fluid to disperse, which can help amplify and alter the average Nu number and therefore convective transfer [68].…”

“…Natural convection in enclosures has been studied extensively due to its applications in different industries such as solar energy [1][2][3], energy storage [4,5], nuclear reactor [6], chemical and roll-coating [7,8], to name a few. One of the main challenges those industries face is to maintain high thermal efficiency in their respective applications without losing the thermal conductivity of existing models.…”

“…This topic has been the subject of numerous investigations. The works by Rivera and Moraga (2022), Sivaraj et al (2020), Nia et al (2020), Bouras et al (2021), Tayebi et al (2021), Khan et al (2021), Zheng et al (2021), Hidki et al (2021) and Hu et al (2021), which involve one or more components in various shapes and thermal forms inside of an enclosed space, are among the prominent and current ones. Abdulkadhim et al (2023) summarize the results related to natural convection in various enclosures.…”
