Study on Network Architecture for Traffic Information Collection Systems Based on RFID Technology

Abstract: The paper introduces the research to develop an active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) -based national Traffic Information Collection System (TICS) in ubiquitous environments in order to renovate the integrated national traffic management systems. The study of RFID -based traffic collection system mainly focuses on: i) 2.45GHz active RFID readers and tags; ii) RFID middleware and DB structure, and application S/W; and iii) network architecture to deploy TICS nationwide. The paper investigates and analyze… Show more

“…First, an intuitive way is to substitute missing values through domain specific threshold. Such a method of highway domain is proposed using the upper and lower bound on traffic flow data [18]: the distorted value larger than the upper bound (or smaller than the lower bound) would be revised as that bound. It overemphasizes the value's validity but neglects the real rationality on spatial or temporal factors.…”

“…Traffic includes the physical movements of vehicles on an arbitrary road network. WiMAX wireless Ethernet communication between CCS and readers [13] is simulated via Wi-Fi wireless Ethernet communication. Application simulation means the simulation of applications that are to be integrated in real-world vehicles.…”

“…With the growth of inter-city traffic, congestion in highway has become one of most serious problems worldwide, and the highway transportation systems are significant to govern urban situations (Holguín-Veras and Preziosi, 2011). With the popularity of electronic toll collection (ETC) in recent decades, the passing efficiency spurs the burst of data generated from sensors at toll stations (Kim et al, 2008). For example, in Henan Province of China, the records of toll data would be around one million a day and more than 0.2 billion in the year 2016.…”
