Study on the Influence of Bending Angle of Multipoint Stretch-Bending of Profiles on Section Distortion of Parts

Abstract: The ABAQUS finite element simulation software was used to simulate the flexible 3D multipoint stretch-bending (MPSB) forming process of aluminum profiles. The influence of bending angle on the section distortion was investigated. The results show that the type of rectangular section distortion during horizontal bending and vertical bending is different. The bulging rate and the depression rate increase with the increase in horizontal bending angles; when the vertical bending angle is less than 15°, the depress… Show more

“…With the wide application of the profile stretch-bend forming process in the processing of large-scale curved structural parts, a lot of research work has been carried out on this process by researchers from different countries. Liang et al [8] studied the influence of the bending angle of multi-point stretch-bend on the section deformation of the parts by using the ABAQUS finite element analysis method and predicted the forming quality control curve by the support vector regression method. Chen et al [9] analyzed the spring-back of multi-point flexible stretch-bend forming of Y-section profiles under different process parameters.…”

“…This process gradually produces severe plastic deformation (SPD) due to the increased stress; therefore, strain distribution must be considered [5]. As a result, the strain increases by a specific amount, depending on the mechanical properties of each material [6][7][8][9][10][11][12]. Another aspect is the deformation, since materials behave differently when elastic or plastic deformation occurs [2,13].…”

“…[15][16][17] This technology has received widespread attention due to its die surface reconfigurability and reusability in the forming process of different parts. 18 Liang J and Li Y et al 19,20 proposed a flexible three-dimensional stretch bending forming technology, which achieved a breakthrough in one-time forming of profiles from two-dimensional to three-dimensional deformation.…”
