Study on the thermal insulation performance of a new seabed sediment fidelity sampler based on ANSYS

Abstract: A new seabed sediment fidelity sampler was developed and its thermal insulation performance was studied and analyzed. The temperature distribution simulation indicated that the sample quality could be insured by using this new sampler. Based on ANSYS10, the temperature finite element model of the sample cylinder was established. According to the law of conservation of energy, the unsteady heat transmit equation of the sampler under solid-liquid coupling condition was derived, then the mathematical model calcul… Show more

“…In coastal areas, driven by rapid international trade development and economic globalization, construction of ports and widening of waterways has led to the rapid expansion of the dredging industry. Dredged soil, an available resource, is commonly used for ecological restoration and land reclamation [1]. Usually, dredged soils are dumped directly by suction dredgers in designated dumping areas [2][3][4][5].…”

“…In order to better understand the motion mechanism and stress state of the seafloor sediment sampler based on the application practice of the mud picker, researchers have studied the seafloor sediment sampling process from different perspectives through numerical simulation of the operation process of the mud picker in lakes, riverbeds and oceans based on the design of the mechanical structure of the mud picker, aided by the rapid development of simulation software. Guo et al 15 developed a new fidelity sampler for seafloor sediments, and studied and analysed its thermal insulation performance. Based on ANSYS software, a finite element model of the temperature of the sample cylinder was established.…”
