“…SPSS v. 19.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) was used to calculate the lethal and sublethal doses of acetamiprid and dinotefuran using data obtained from the toxicity bioassay of C. pallens 2nd instar larvae. The effects of sublethal doses of acetamiprid and dinotefuran on the 2nd instar larvae of C. pallens were analyzed using the age-stage two-sex life table theory [23,24].…”

“…Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the side effects of pesticides. Exposure or ingestion of systemic pesticides with sublethal concentrations can cause changes in physiological and various biological characteristics, such as survival rate, developmental duration, longevity, and fecundity [7,19,20]. Thiamethoxam has been shown to have negative effects on the development period and fecundity of Chrysoperla externa [21], while deltamethrin is highly toxic to Chrysoperla carnea larvae and adults [22].…”

“…Exposure to sublethal doses of pesticide may not impact the life history traits of individuals, but may have a negative impact on their offspring [78,79]. For instance, the exposition of the ladybird Coccinella septempunctata and the heteroptera Orius sauteri to sub-lethal doses of imidacloprid negatively impact the life history traits of the progeny of the directly exposed individuals [80,81]. Future studies should be conducted to investigate the transgenerational effects of exposure to field-realistic doses of neonicotinoide on mosquito life history traits.…”

“…The two pests showed varying rates of survival and reproduction on tomato, cucumber and cowpea plants after pre-occurrence of the natural enemy, which subsequently affected the reproduction of O. sauteri. Our study provides a conception framework for controlling western ower thrips and white ies given that the omnivorous predator O. sauteri is one of the most effective biological control agents of greenhouse crops in China(Zhao et al 2017;Wang et al 2018;Lin et al 2020). The results presented in the current study clearly demonstrated that the survival rate of F. occidentalis on tomato plants previously inoculated with O. sauteri was signi cantly lower than clean plants although no differences were observed on cucumber and cowpea plants.…”
