Substoichiometric Isotope Dilution Analysis of Indium by Liquid Scintillation Counting

Abstract: Indium / Aliquat-336 / Liquid scintillation counting / Ferric hydroxide collection SummaryA sensitive and selective substoichiometric isotope dilution method for the determination of trace amounts of indium is described. The method is based on the extraction of its ionassociation complex with substoichiometric amount of Aliquat-336 into toluene from 0.7 Μ KBr and 4.0 Μ H 2 S0 4 . The beta activity of indium-114 is measured by liquid scintillation counting. The counting efficiency was found to be 92%. The ease … Show more

“…The shape and X max of the spectrum did not agree with that of Fe(tta) 3 [10], whose color was orange. The λ^ value of the reflection spectrum of solid Fe(tta) 2 reported as 562 nm [15], and that of the extracted Fe(tta) 2 in 1-heptanol was obtained as 568 nm in our previous study [10].…”

“…Many reports have included the determination of many elements by substoichiometric analysis [1][2][3][4]. Substoichiometric determination also has an advantage for use in the speciation, which has been an interesting and difficult theme in many fields.…”

“…The results are tabulated in Table 1. The interferences of zinc, cadmium, silver and copper could be easily overcome by collecting indium quantitatively over iron(III) hydroxide [7]. These metal ions are removed as soluble ammine complexes.…”
