“…This biomechanical treatment modality is based on the concept that mechanical unloading of an arthritic joint will initiate a healing response in the subchondral bone and articular cartilage. Joint distraction was initially trialed in the hip [1] and was later expanded to foot and ankle articulations [2,3].
