Both SF and ER were found to upregulate synthesis of MRP2 in cultured enterocytes (Harris & Jeffery, 2008;Jakubikova, Sedlak, Mithen, & Bao, 2005). It remains to be seen if SF secretion is via MRP2 and if any bioactive food components or xenobiotics seem to cause synergy with SF, such as quercetin (Srivastava, Tang, Zhu, Meeker, & Shankar, 2011) might do so by blocking SF secretion by transporters, either from the enterocyte into the gut or from other tissues.…”
