Teas (1977) gives restoration costs of U.S. $462/acre (U.S. $l,140/ha) to U.S. $87,500/acre (U.S. $216,130/ha) for Florida mangrove habitat, Thorhaug & Austin (1976) give U.S. $56,465/acre (U.S. $139,524/a ha) for Florida seagrass communities, and Cook (1976), quoting from a report (National Academy of Sciences, 1974), gives U.S. $925/acre (U.S. $2,286/ha) to U.S. $2,750/acre (U.S. $6,795/ha) for reclamation of semi-arid range-lands of the western United States. There remains unanswered, however, the question of the long-term success of such treatments.…”
