Survival analysis after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma: A consecutive cohort of 1002 patients

Abstract: Survival of patients with HCC after resection should be stratified by various perioperative clinicopathological factors. Platelet count and intraoperative EBL could be considered as one of the powerful predictors of the prognosis and recurrence of HCC in such patients.

“…Besides, with the prolongation of OS, the proportion of HCC samples in the high-risk group decreased gradually in relation to the total samples (Figure 2(c)). These 3 Journal of Immunology Research findings were consistent with the clinical findings that HCC patients did not relapse within 5 years after therapy, the OS was greatly improved and the recurrence rate gradually reduced [20]. Also, we analyzed the OS of HCC samples based on the nine-IRGP signature using the KM curve.…”

“…Worldwide, the most common type of primary liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)[ 1 ]. Hepatic resection is potentially curative for early-stage HCC if adequate reserve liver function is present[ 2 ]; however, the death rate from HCC remains high due to the high recurrence rate following hepatectomy[ 3 - 5 ]. Recently, a screening program for detecting early-stage disease in high-risk patients was found to improve surgical outcomes[ 6 ].…”

“…HCC was diagnosed till advanced stages for lacking of effective therapies [4][5][6]. At present, partial hepatectomy is a relative curative treatment preferentially for primary HCC patients, which can effectively treat tumor and improve the survival rate of patients [2,[7][8][9]. Regrettably, 70-80% of patients undergo tumor recurrence within 5 years after surgery, greatly reducing the survival rate after surgery [10].…”
