Corticosteroids have also been tried (Bismuth et al, 1982) as have acetylcysteine and deferoxamine (Lheureux et al, 1995), nitric oxide by inhalation (Eisenman et al, 1998), radiotherapy (Talbot and Barnes, 1988), and lung transplantation.
