Susceptibility to Infections during Long-Term Treatment with Tetracyclines in Acne vulgaris

Abstract: 51 acne patients on low dosage of tetracyclines for more than 6 months (mean, 16 months) were compared (by means of a questionnaire) with 51 matched healthy controls as to their opinion of the occurrence of symptoms of some types of infection. There was no indication of an increased susceptibility to develop infections. In another series of 44 women, 6 had symptoms of monilial infection of the genitals.
