Sustainable Electric Personal Mobility: The Design of a Wireless Charging Infrastructure for Urban Tourism

Abstract: Though new technologies have been applied in all industries, electric mobility technology using eco-friendly energy is drawing a great deal of attention. This research focuses on a personal electric mobility system for urban tourism. Some tourism sites such as Gyeongju, Korea, have broad spaces for tourists to walk around, but the public transportation system has been insufficiently developed due to economic reasons. Therefore, personal mobility technology such as electric scooters can be regarded as efficient… Show more

“…In this study, the optimal solution is derived using IBM's ILOG CPLEX. IBM's ILOG CPLEX is a sophisticated mathematical optimization tool designed to solve linear programming (LP), mixed-integer programming (MIP), and quadratic programming (QP) problems, among others [30]. It is widely recognized for its efficiency, reliability, and the ability to handle large-scale optimization problems.…”

“…Two studies analysed bike-sharing systems and personal mobility. Balacco et al [188] sought to determine the number of docks at electric bicycle charging stations, with a charging system based on pumps used as turbine, and Kwag et al [159] to determine the installation of wireless charging infrastructure (both static and dynamic) at tourist locations, considering electric scooters.…”

“…These chargers must enable safe, controlled and autonomous recharging. Wireless chargers are highlighted as one of the potential solutions for personal mobility transport [8], which provides a safe charging while it avoids dealing with different grid connectors [9]. In this paper, we present a wireless charger for an e-scooter.…”
