Symptoms of anxiety and depression in mothers of hospitalized premature infants

Abstract: Objective: to identify the prevalence of symptoms of anxiety and depression in mothers of hospitalized premature infants. Method: this is a cross-sectional correlational study, carried out within the period from April to May 2011, with the adoption of the convenience sample type. This sample consisted of sixty mothers accompanying hospitalized preterm infants. The instruments used were the Inventory of State-Trait Anxiety and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale, both applied as an interview.
