“…These results show that sennoside C is as active as sennoside A and exerts a potentiating effect of about 1.6 when present in a proportion of 20 % of the mixture. This seems to be close to the results given by FAIRBAIRN and SALEH [1]. They have also reported that although the samples of leaf contained a smaller proportion of sennosides expressed as sennoside A A and B than the samples of pod, the former had greater biological activity than the latter.…”

“…In 1951, FAIRBAIRN and SALEH [1] reported that senna leaf and pod contain the "nonrhein" glycoside based on aloe-emodin, which is as active as sennosides A and B, in 10 15 % and 2 5 % of the total glycoside content, respectively. This glycoside exerts a marked synergistic effect increasing the total activity by about 1.7 times when mixed with sennosides A and B so that it represents about 15 % of the mixture; but in proportions of about 5 % it exerts practically no synergistic action.…”

“…When the biological activities of senna leaf and fruit extracts were compared, it was seen that they consisted of sennosides A and B, which have high synergistic effects 42 . From the substances in senna seeds, those with slimming effects were determined.…”
