Synthese und Kristallstruktur des Dichlor-Adduktes von 2, 3-Dihydro-1, 3-diisopropyl-4, 5-dimethylimidazol-2-yliden [1]Professor Wolfgang Haubold zum 65. Geburtstag gewidmet

Abstract

2,3-Dihydro-1,3-diispropyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene (1, Im) reacts with hexachloroethane to give the charge-transfer adduct Im-Cl-Cl (2) in almost quantitative yield. The crystal structure of 2 reveals the presence of a near linear C-Cl-Cl fragment (3) Å , C-Cl-Cl 166.1(1)°] which is discussed as weak Charge-Transfer-Addukte weicher und mittelharter Neutralbasen mit Dihalogen-Molekülen (B-X-X) sind hinsichtlich der Natur des festen Zustandes vor allem in Form der Diiod-Addukte von Phosphor-und Selen-Basen ausführlich untersucht worden [2,3]. Analoge Strukturelemente weisen die Diiod-Addukte basischer Carbene [4,5] und Enamine [6,7] auf. Entsprechende Charge-Transfer-Adduke des Chlors hingegen sind im festen Zustand strukturell nur selten charakterisiert worden. Verbindungen der Zusammensetzung R 3 PCl 2 können in Abhängigkeit von R sowohl als Triorgano-Dichlorphosphorane (R ϭ Ph [8]) wie auch als Charge-Transfer-Addukte R 3 P-Cl-Cl (R ϭ iso-Pr [9]) vorliegen; komplexere Strukturen werden in Gegenwart von Solvensmolekülen durch die "Solvatisierung" des Chlorid-Ions beobachtet [10]. Wir hatten vor einiger Zeit die Synthese des Adduktes 2 durch Umsetzung von 1 mit 1,2-Dichlorethan sowie seine Folgechemie veröffentlicht [11]. Nachfolgend berichten wir über die mittlerweile vorliegende Festkörperstruktur von 2 und geben zugleich im experimentellen Teil ein verbessertes Syntheseverfahren dieser auch unter präparativen Aspekten nützlichen Verbindung an. Die Kristallstrukturanalyse von 2 (Abb. 1) ergibt mit dem angenähert linear koordinierten "inneren" Chloratom [C(1)-Cl(1)-Cl(2) 166.1(1)°] sowie mit dem deutlich innerhalb des van der Waals-Bereichs liegenden Cl-Cl-Abstand [Cl(1)-Cl(2) 3.159(3) Å ] die charakteristischen Merkmale eines Charge-Transfer-Komplexes. Als Grenzwert einer van der Waals-Wechselwirkung wird ein Cl-Cl-Abstand von 3.50 Å diskutiert [12]; der kürzeste experimentell gefundene intermolekulare Cl-Cl-Abstand wird in der Kristallstruktur von ClF (3.070 Å ) beobachtet [13]. Imidazol‐2‐ylidene Reactivity towards Cyanocarbons
