ABSTRACT. A series of Schiff base of 2,2'-(naphthalene-2,7-diylbis(oxy))bis(N'-substituted acetohydrazide) (4a-m) derivatives has been synthesized by the acid catalyzed condensation of aryl/hetero aromatic aldehydes with 2,2'-(naphthalene-2,7-diylbis(oxy))diacetohydrazide (3) under microwave irradiation and conventional method for comparison. The structures of all the newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and Mass spectra. All the synthesized compounds have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial activity.

The title compound, (2-((6-chloropyridin-3-yl)methoxy)-5-methylphenyl)(p-tolyl) methanone, was synthesized and characterized spectroscopically and finally confirmed by (XRD) study. The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 =c with cell parameters a ¼ 9.4420(1) Å, b ¼ 7.9810(6) Å, c ¼ 23.777(4) Å, a ¼ 90 , b ¼ 90.883(3) , c ¼ 90 , V ¼ 1791.5(4) Å À3 , and Z ¼ 4. The structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bond of the type CÀH Á Á Á O.
