Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of 1β-Methylcarbapenems Having a 2,2-Disubstituted-1,3-diazabicyclo[3.3.0]octan-4-one Moiety and Related Compounds. Part 3. -A variety of novel 1β-methylcarbapenem derivatives bearing a diazabicyclooctanone [cf. (IV)] or diazabicyclononanone moiety [cf. (VII)] are synthesized and evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activities. Compound (IVc) proves to be the most potent derivative.
