Synthesis and Antibacterial Activity of Bicyclic Lactam-Lactones

Abstract: The synthesis of a lactam-lactone bicyclic system containing a pyroglutamate subunit proceeds to give the fused lactone system, which is favoured over the spirocyclic lactone alternative.
