Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of a New Class of Sulfone Linked Bisheterocycles

Abstract: A new and novel class of bis(heterocycles) viz., bis pyrroles, pyrrolyl pyrazoles and pyrrolyl isoxazoles are prepared from 1-aroyl-2-styrylsulfonylethenes by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of tosylmethyl isocyanide, diazomethane, nitrile imines and nitrile oxides. The lead compounds are screened for antimicrobial activity

“…However, the development of simple facile and efficient methodologies to get five‐membered heterocycles is one of the major aspects in organic synthesis. In fact, for the past few years, we have been actively engaged in the synthesis of biologically potent bis heterocycles . Our continued interest in this direction triggered to plan for the synthesis of bis heterocycles having oxazoline and thiazoline rings in combination with pyrazole and isoxazole moieties from the synthetically vulnerable intermediate E ‐aroylethenesulfonylacetic acid methyl ester.…”
