Synthesis and Characterization of Antimony(III) Complexes of Thioamides, and Crystal Structure of {[Sb(Imt)2Cl2]2((2‐Imt)}Cl2(Imt=Imidazolidine‐2‐thione)

Abstract: Antimony(III) complexes of thioamides [thioamides=thiourea (Tu), N,N'-dimethylthiourea (Dmtu), tetramethylthiourea (Tmtu), imidazolidine-2-thione (Imt) and diazinane-2-thione (Diaz)] with the general formulae, Sb(thione) n Cl 3 (n=1, 2, 2.5, 3) were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and NMR ( 1 H, 13 C) spectroscopic methods. The spectral data of the complexes are consistent with the coordination of the thiones to antimony(III). The crystal structure of one of them, {[Sb(Imt) 2 Cl 2 ] 2 (µ 2… Show more

“…27 However, less work on the main group elements participating in the heterometallic complexes due to special properties of the main elements has been reported. [28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35] Among them, a series of lanthanide-main group elements compounds have been synthesized under the solvothermal conditions. 34,35 In this paper, antimony-based heterometallic complex [Sb 2 (edta) 2 -µ 4 -Co(H 2 O) 2 ]•5.15H 2 O was synthesized.…”

“…One of the reasons of this geometric diversity of antimony(III) compounds is the lone pair electrons located on the antimony atom [2]. Thus, antimony(III) halide compounds with thioamide ligands contain a five coordinated metal center with a stereochemically active lone pair [3][4][5][6][7][8]. Antimony has been used as a drug for over more than 100 years.…”

“…R. Sah et al [2] synthesized and characterized transition Metal(II) complexes of heterocyclic thiomides. H. Ajaz et al [3] got the crystal structure of complexes of Antimony(II) with thioamides. T. Singh et al [4] studied thioamide complexes of ruthenium.…”
