Synthesis and characterization of hybrid clay/poly (N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) nanocomposites

Abstract: Four quaternary ammonium salt monomers (2a–d) were synthesized from N,N‐dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate and subsequently polymerized to afford cationic polymers (3a–d). The synthesized monomers and polymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) spectroscopy.
