Synthesis and Characterization of Polypyrrole Film Doped with Both Molybdate and Salicylate and Its Application in the Corrosion Protection for Low Carbon Steel

Abstract: Polypyrrole (PPy) films doped with molybdate and salicylate have been successfully electropolymerized on low carbon steel in aqueous solutions containing both molybdate and salicylate in a one-step process that did not require any pre-treatment of the steel substrate. Salicylate-doped PPy films were synthesized in the same way for comparison. The steel surface was rapidly inhibited and the PPy-based films were formed on it easily. The PPy-based films were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, scanning e… Show more

“…Today, with the quick development of science and technology, material science plays a very important, decisive role in the development and application of all scientific and technical disciplines. In particular, alloys are materials that are composed of two or more metals such as NiCu [1][2][3], FeC [4][5][6], NiFe [7,8], AlNi [9], NiAu [10], CuAu [11,12], WSi [13], Fe-CoNi [14], Al [15], Ni [16], etc. Alloys have great applicability in fields such as biology [17], adsorption [18], data storing [19], high density storage [20], photocatalysis [21], chemical sensors [22], and the biomedical field [23].…”

“…The air pockets present in micro-nano asperities of the EPDM-CeO 2 composite might not allow the corrosive fluids to encounter the EPDM-CeO 2 composite. However, under extremely harsh conditions, the corrosive fluids may penetrate the asperities of the EPDM-CeO 2 composite, leading to preliminary corrosion [23][24][25][26][27]. In the case of specimen T2, due to the presence of a slippery lubricative top film, corrosive fluids might not be allowed to come in direct contact with the PFPE-infused hydrophobized CeO 2 composite.…”

“…Lately, self-healing coating systems have emerged as smart and promising coatings for corrosion protection. 9,10 The self-healing property of a system is its ability to repair its own defects, often occurring after mechanical damages 11 or other defects, 12 by releasing active agents into the defect area. 13 The self-healing effect is often triggered by a change in pH, ionic strength, 14 or a change in potential.…”
