Synthesis and characterization of surface-enhanced Raman-scattered gold nanoparticles

Abstract: In this paper, we report a simple, rapid, and robust method to synthesize surface-enhanced Raman-scattered gold nanoparticles (GNPs) based on green chemistry. Vitis vinifera L. extract was used to synthesize noncytotoxic Raman-active GNPs. These GNPs were characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, dynamic light-scattering, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy. The characteristic surface plasmon-… Show more

“…The GNPs-1 and GNPs-2 were prepared as described previously 15 16 . The GNPs- anti HDM2 peptide conjugates were prepared by mixing varying concentrations of 3-mpa (Mercaptopropionic acid) modified anti-HDM2 peptide with purified GNPs (GNPS-1 and GNPs-2, separately).…”

“…This technique has been widely used for the identification of NPs of different chemical composition (Lu et al ., ; Chen et al ., ). Raman spectroscopy, as observed in Table , when used for the characterization of AuNPs, revealed two peaks at 589 and 1102 nm wavelengths, which are close to those previously reported for gold nanospheres (Kalmodia et al ., ). For AgNPs, three peaks at 437, 1594 and 1646 nm were identified, corresponding to values essentially similar to those found for silver nanoparticles (Lu et al ., ; Tu and Chung, ).…”

“…Advantages of AuNPs when used in SERS includes SPR, size dependent specifications, easy surface modifications, lower toxicity associated with living cells, size and shape diversity. AuNPs can easily be functionalized with antibodies and other tumor targeting biomolecules through well-established conjugation procedures [49,50]. In recent years, several groups [51, 52] have demonstrated the potential of using AuNPs based on Raman tags for SERS.…”
