Synthesis and Characterization of the New Lead Strontium GermanatePbSrGeO 4. -PbSrGeO4 is prepared by a high-temperature reaction of stoichiometric amounts of PbO, SrCO 3, and GeO2 (platinum crucible, 900 C, 130 h). The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P212121 (Z = 4, single crystal XRD) and is isotypic to BaNdGaO 4. The structure contains isolated [GeO4] 4tetrahedra. A circular arrangement of six GeO 4 tetrahedra leads to large channels hosting Sr in eightfold coordination. Pb is coordinated by three O atoms that form together with the lone pair a pseudo-tetrahedral coordination sphere. The compound is further characterized by Raman spectroscopy and DFT calculations. -(PETSCHNIG, L. L.; WURST, K.; PERFLER, L.; JOHRENDT, D.; HUPPERTZ*, H.; Z. Naturforsch., B: Chem.
