Synthesis and Characterization of Thiophen-3-yl Acetic Acid 4-Pyrrol-1-yl Phenyl Ester and its Conducting Polymers

Abstract: pagesThiophen-3-yl acetic acid 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenyl ester (TAPE) monomer was synthesized by the reaction of thiophene acetic acid with thionyl chloride, and further reaction of thiophen-3-yl acetyl chloride with 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenol. Electrochemical behavior of this monomer (TAPE) was determined by cyclic voltammetry. Homopolymers were achieved both by using electrochemical and chemical polymerization techniques. Copolymers of TAPE in the presence of bithiophene and pyrrole were synthesized by potentiostatic e… Show more

“…Synthesis of TAPE monomer was reported earlier12 via the esterification reaction of thiophen‐3‐yl‐acetyl chloride with 4‐pyrrol‐1‐yl‐phenol in the presence of triethylamine in dichloromethane at 0°C. Copolymer of TAPE in the presence of NMPy was synthesized via constant potential electrolysis (Solatron 1285 potentiostat/galvanostat) in a one compartment cell.…”

“…In a previous publication, we described the synthesis and characterization of thiophen‐3‐yl acetic acid 4‐pyrrol‐1‐yl phenyl ester (TAPE), its homopolymer, and its copolymers with pyrrole and bithiophene 12. Moreover, the characteristics of dual‐type ECD based on poly(TAPE‐ co ‐BiTh) and poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) were reported.…”

“…Anodic electrochemical oxidation is the best broadly utilized technique to prepare poly heterocycles of high-level conductivity (Bingol et al, 2005). It's a good way to create smooth thin films from polymers on conductive surfaces.…”
