Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of (Y, Gd) (P, V)O4:Eu3+, Bi3+Red Nano-phosphors with Enhanced Photoluminescence by Bi3+, Gd3+ Doping

Abstract: Abstract:A series of (Y1−y, Gdy)0.95−x(Py, V1−y)O4:0.05Eu 3+ , xBi 3+ phosphors have been successfully prepared by a subsection method. The crystal structure, surface morphology and luminescence properties were investigated. It was found that the sintered samples crystallized in a tetragonal crystal system with space group I41/amd(a = b = 0.7119 nm, c = 0.6290 nm). The products presented rod-like morphology with length of 100-150 nm and width of 50-100 nm. A maximum peak at 619 nm ( 5 D0 → 7 F2) was observed i… Show more

“…As everyone knows, Eu 3+ ions are highly sensitive to crystal field symmetry, which can give rise to different electronic transition predominates and relative intensities . When they locate at a site without inversion symmetry, the electric dipole 5 D 0 → 7 F 2 transition is dominating . On the contrary, when Eu 3+ ions lie in a site with inversion symmetry, the magnetic dipole 5 D 0 → 7 F 1 transition is predominated .…”

“…Due to the evolved gases, the apparent volume expanded greatly after charring and the precursor became so loose that it could be broken easily into fine pieces. Subsequently, this solid precursor was divided into three parts and then respectively calcined in a high‐temperature oven at 950 °C for 5 h. The optimal Eu 3+ content was chosen to be 0.05 by referring to references on similar YVO 4 :Eu 3+ systems .…”

“…Right inset is the UV-V is spectra of YVO 4 :Eu 3+ nanoparticles with different annealing temperatures-left inset is the diagram presenting the dependence of 5 D 0 ⟶ 7 F 2 intensity on annealing temperature. e optical emission mechanism is the absorption of ultraviolet light by VO 4 3− groups and transfer of energy to Eu 3+ , the energy which is released in the form of fluorescence [61][62][63]. Hence, the absorption of VO 4…”
