“…Fluorene and pentamethylcyclopentadiene were commercially available and used as received. YbI 2 (THF) 2 , [3] (C 10 H 8 )Yb(THF) 2 , [28] (µ-C 10 H 8 )[YbI(DME) 2 ] 2 (4), [49] and Me 2 Si(C 13 H 9 ) 2 [50] were prepared according to literature procedures. Ϫ IR spectra were recorded as Nujol mulls with a Specord M80 spectrophotometer, NMR spectra with a Bruker DPX200 spectrometer in [D 6 ]benzene or [D 8 ]THF at 298 K, chemical shifts for 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra were referenced internally using the residual solvent resonances and reported relative to TMS.…”
