Synthesis and study of a new polyorganophosphazene

Abstract: In this study, a new polyorganophosphazene with pendant carbazolyl groups was synthesized, and its structure was characterized by IR, 1 H-NMR, and 31 P-NMR spectroscopy. To understand its carrier photogeneration and transport property, we also studied fluorescence spectra and photovoltage spectra. Fluorescence spectra show that the polymer possesses properties dissimilar to those of PVK. There are only two emission peaks at Ϸ 360 nm in its spectra, which coincides with that of the monomer model compound, 9-eth… Show more

“…The most popular and commercially available plant oil derivative is AESO. 46,63,73,74,82 -88 However, due to the long flexible aliphatic chain of soybean oil, petroleum-based rigid compounds such as cycloaliphatic epoxy resin, 83 styrene and divinylbenzene 82,84,88 and sol-gel silica 85 are often used to copolymerize with AESO to achieve the necessary rigidity and strength for some end applications. To develop high bio-based content thermosets from plant oil, increasing efforts have been made to explore bio-based comonomers or crosslink agents to replace the petroleum-based rigid compounds.…”

“…66 The most common type of intramolecular cyclization of a linolenic chain is shown mechanistically in Figure 4. The initial oil (I), upon heating, undergoes a [1,6] prototropic migration to form a cyclopentenyl unit (II). Further heating of this intermediate induces a rearrangement to form a cyclohexenyl group (III) in the oil chain.…”

“…This high degree of unsaturation gives these macromolecules potential for functionalization and subsequent polymerization to form a highly crosslinked polymer matrix. Polymers have been made from soybean, [5][6][7][8] corn, 9 tung, 10,11 linseed, [12][13][14][15] and castor oil, 16,17 among others, and many approaches to polymerization have been utilized including cationic, [18][19][20] free radical, 21,22 thermal, 23,24 UV-initiated, 25 and ring-opening polymerization. 26 Strangely, transition metal-based catalysts have yet to assert themselves as a force in vegetable oil bulk polymerization, despite the continual development of novel catalyst complexes that can produce high-yielding, stereoregular, Additional Supporting Information may be found in the online version of this article.…”

“…The requirements of anode material [4][5][6] are: (1) high electronic conductivity; (2) stability under reducing environment; (3) thermal expansion and chemistry compatibility with electrolyte and other components; (4) sufficient porosity to maintain the three-phase boundary (TPB) among electrolyte, electrode and gas phases, which can act as an electrochemically active site for the electrode reaction. At present, Ni/yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) cermets are the most widely adopted materials for SOFC anodes due to their good electrocatalytic property against low price [6,7].…”
