Synthesis and use of dioxime ligands for treatment of leukemia and colon cancer cells

Abstract: Two new vicinal dioxime ligands containing thiosemicarbazone units (L1H2 and L2H2) were synthesized and characterized using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, heteronuclear multiple quantum correlation, mass, infrared and UV–visible spectroscopies, elemental analysis and magnetic susceptibility measurements. In addition, homotrinuclear nickel(II), copper(II) and cobalt(II) complexes with a metal‐to‐ligand ratio of 3:2 for L1H2 and L2H2 were prepared. Synthesis of nickel(II) complex containing a BF2+ bridge was carried out using… Show more

“…[8] The exceptional stability and unique electronic properties of these complexes can be attributed to their planar structure, stabilized by hydrogen bonding. [9] It has been widely used for various purposes due to the high stability of metal complexes prepared from vic-dioxime ligand. The geometrical isomers of vic-dioximes and their derivatives are syn-, anti-, and amphi-structures usually, the stability order of these is anti-> amphi-> syn-configuration, vic-dioximes, and monoximes are amphoteric materials containing basic C=N groups and weakly acidic OH groups.…”

“…One of the striking features of this ligand class and its complexes is that it exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities, including antibacterial, antioxidant, antifungal, and antidepressant. [4,9,12] It has attracted the attention of many scientists and research groups around the world due to its numerous biological studies of vic-dioxime compounds and their metal complexes. [13][14][15] These findings led us to synthesize a novel vic-dioxime ligand (1) and associated (2), ( 3), ( 4), (5), and ( 6) metal complexes, we also examined the antimicrobial and antioxidant behavior of these new types of compounds.…”
