Synthesis, Characterization and AntitumourActivity of Metal Complexes of 5‐Carboxy‐2‐Thiouracil

Abstract: Metal complexes of 5-carboxy-2-thiouracil with Mn(ll), Co(ll), Ni(ll), Cu(ll), Zn(ll) and Cd(ll) ions were synthesized, characterized, and subjected to a screening system for evaluation of antitumour activity against Sarcoma-180 (S-180) tumour cells. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, electronic spectra, room temperature magnetic measurements and powder X-ray diffraction. The antitumour activity results indicate that some complexes have antitumour activity both in vivo and in vit… Show more

“…By now, platinum a containing antitumor drugs of a new generation, carboplatin, iproplatin and spiroplatin, have gained widespread application [8]. Recently, studies of antitumor properties of the complexes ofNi(|I), Mn(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Ru(II), Sn(II), Zr(II) and Ti(II) have been reported [9][10][11].…”

“…The uracil derivative has formed a six-membered chelate ring via the deprotonated amino group and the phenylsubstituted nitrogen atom of the azo group [52]. Metal complexes with 5-carboxy-2-thiouracil were synthesized by Singh et al [53]. The structure of complexes with 5-carboxy-2-thiouracil is given in Figure 28.…”
