Synthesis, Characterization, and Combustion Catalytic Activities of Copper(II) and Lead(II) Salts of p‐Nitrocalix[n]arenes (n=4, 6, 8)

Abstract: Six copper(II) and lead(II) salts of p‐nitrocalix[n]arene (n=4, 6, 8) were synthsized and characterized. The DSC curves of all salts showed exothermic decomposition. Sensitivity studies revealed that all the salts with the exception of the lead salt of p‐nitrocalix[6]arene (NCPb6) are relatively insensitive materials. Investigations of the catalytic activities showed that most of the salts displayed high activities in thermal decomposition of NC‐NG and RDX. As evaluated in this work, the salts enhanced the bur… Show more

“…The plateau regions of RDX-CMDB propellant containing 3,6-bis(1H-1,2,3,4-tetrazol-5-ylamino)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine lead compound (LCBTATz) [42] are 4-12 MPa, with an average u of 9.7 mm s −1 . G. F. Zhang et al [43] synthesized p-nitrocalix[n]arene lead or copper compounds, which could slightly increase the u of RDX-CMDB propellants, but without the formation of "plateau" combustion. We prepared the 4-amino-3,5-dinitropyrazole lead (DNPPb) [28], which increased the burning rate of RDX-CMDB propellants, but the plateau combustion region was only 6-10 MPa.…”

“…This is mainly due to the massive heat release and the generation of metal oxide active centers in the process of combustion of mixtures of AP and ECPs. 24,25 reported ECP Cu(Mtta) 2 (NO 3 ) 2 greatly accelerates the combustion of AP and possesses the advantages of environmental friendliness and safety. 26 In this work, a new ECP [Cu(HBTI)(H 2 O)] n (1) was prepared by a hydrothermal method.…”

“…In recent years, it has been found that high-performance ECPs can act as good promoters toward the combustion of AP. This is mainly due to the massive heat release and the generation of metal oxide active centers in the process of combustion of mixtures of AP and ECPs. , Different from the inert or Pb-based promoters used in the combustion of AP, previously reported ECP Cu(Mtta) 2 (NO 3 ) 2 greatly accelerates the combustion of AP and possesses the advantages of environmental friendliness and safety …”

“…[11] This is mainly because large amountso fh eat released during combustion process, as well as the formation of metals or metal oxidesa tamolecular level on the propellant surface contribute to acceleration effects. [12] Although there is ac ertain toxicityt ob oth the environmenta nd human beings, Pb-based energetic complexes providee xcellent acceleration effects on the thermald ecomposition of AP or other main ingredient of solid propellants than other metal ions (Supporting Information Ta ble S1). [13] Meanwhile, the Pb ion, which possesses larger radius andv ariable stereochemical activities,c an effectively connectw ith nitrogen-rich heterocyclest of orm complicated and changeable network configurations.…”
