Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Characterizations of tetra(N-Benzoylmethyl-benzimidazole)dibromide cadmium(II) Complex: CdBr2(C7H5N2CH2COPh)4

Abstract: The structure of CdBr 2 (C 7 H 5 N 2 CH 2 COPh) 4 has been determined by X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in the tetragonal system, space group P4/n, with lattice parameters a = 14.904(3)Å, b = 14.904(3)Å, c = 11.817(2)Å, and Z = 2. The crystal structure consists of monomeric molecules of [CdBr 2 (C 7 H 5 N 2 CH 2 COPh) 4 ] with distorted octahedron geometry for the CdBr 2 N 4 chromophore.
