Synthesis of 1,1'-{3-[(alkylsulfanyl)methyl]-tetrahydro-2H-thiopyran-3,5-diyl}diethanones from sodium sulfide and thiols

Abstract

The direct condensation of thiols (I) with formaldehyde (II), acetone (III) and sodium sulfide leads to title compounds (IV) in good yields.
